Pair of European Mid-Century Chrome Wall Sconces with Mirrored Globe Shades, circa 1960s–1970s

English description
Pair of European mid-century chrome wall sconces with mirrored globe shades
A sophisticated pair of European mid-century modern wall sconces in polished chrome, with distinctive mirrored (half-silvered) glass globe shades. Designed in the late 1960s to early 1970s, they reflect the refined Space Age aesthetic that emerged across Germany, Italy and the Netherlands during this period.
Each sconce is built around a vertical chrome wall stem with a gracefully curved arm, anchored by two circular wall plates, an architectural and technical detail characteristic of high-quality European lighting design. The lamp head consists of a shallow chrome reflector dish supporting a mirrored glass globe, which diffuses the light softly, reduces glare and conceals the bulb from view. When lit, the mirrored glass creates an atmospheric, sculptural glow with elegant reflections.
This design language is closely associated with European manufacturers of the era, but no maker’s mark is present, so the sconces are attributed to European production.
