WIE OF WAT IS DE HUISZWALUW
Duurzaam, circulair, tweede leven, recycling, klimaatneutraal, milieubewust.

BEZOEK / AFSPRAAK

English – About us / FAQ
Who or what is De Huiszwaluw
Sustainable, circular, second life, recycling, climate-neutral, environmentally conscious.
Under the name De Huiszwaluw, we – Marjolein van den Berg and Jobs Hofsté – sell, rent out and restore vintage design and industrial furniture from the 1950s to the 1990s. Now and then we also venture into antiques, or into modern design.
For more than 20 years we have been scouring the country and abroad in search of the nicest furniture and lots of chairs.
Chairs in particular are our speciality, and we have a great many of them: some 3,000 chairs are waiting here for their new home.
We supply a lot to hospitality businesses, but private customers also love to come and browse for the right chair.
Marjolein is responsible for the photography and puts a lot of care and time into it. It is not permitted to use our photos and/or texts without permission.
We are called “De Huiszwaluw” (the house martin) because for years we enjoyed the house martins at our previous location in Assendelft, where we had the largest colony of house martins in North Holland. The house martin is a mighty, beautiful little bird!
Now, in Boven-Leeuwen, you can enjoy the nests of the barn swallow in spring and summer, as well as many other mighty and beautiful birds 😉

Visits / appointments
You are very welcome at our warehouse in Boven-Leeuwen (near Tiel, the Netherlands). We have no fixed opening hours, but if you suggest a date and time (ideally with an alternative), we can hopefully plan an appointment quickly – evenings and weekends are often possible too.
Most of our collection can be seen on dehuiszwaluw.nl and/or at verkopers.marktplaats.nl/2449296.
It is useful to look beforehand, because many pieces are stacked on or under other furniture; if you let us know which items you would like to see, we can often take that into account.
You will receive the address when making the appointment.

Delivery to your location is often possible for a fee. The costs depend on the order and the destination. We ship worldwide; transport costs are calculated separately based on destination, size and weight.

Searching the website
The items we have for sale are listed in categories: Accessories, Sofas, Desks, Armchairs, Cabinets, Art, Tables and Lighting.
There is also a “sold” (verkocht) category with more than 2,000 items. That is a lot, but it is still worth keeping for findability, references, inspiration, and so we can re-list an item when it becomes available again.
If you are looking specifically for available items, there are two ways:
1. Browse one or more specific categories, without using the website’s search function.
2. Use the website’s search function but exclude the “verkocht” category with a minus sign. For example, to search for Pagholz chairs that are not sold, type: stoelen pagholz -verkocht (the minus sign directly before “verkocht”, without a space).
We hope this helps you find what you are looking for. If you have any further questions, we are happy to help!
