A solid oak barley twist pedestal dating to the early 20th century, circa 1920.
This sculptural stand features a finely turned Solomonic (barley twist) column rising from a substantial stepped plinth base. The proportions are particularly strong: tall and architectural at 109 cm, yet visually grounded by its layered square base.
The top is constructed with a framed and inset central panel, a traditional detail often seen in revival furniture of the late 19th and early 20th century. The pedestal is crafted in solid oak and finished in a rich dark stain with protective lacquer, enhancing the depth of the wood grain and emphasizing the dynamic twist of the column.
The stepped base construction and visible panel joints reflect period craftsmanship rather than later mass production. Structurally sound and stable.
A highly decorative yet functional piece, equally suitable as a plant stand, sculpture pedestal, or architectural accent in both classic and contemporary interiors.
