Een fijne ets van Léon Gaucherel (1816-1886) van een luxueus huwelijkskistje op onderstel in boulle-marqueterie, met maskers, bronzen beslag en een dennenappelknop. Volgens het onderschrift werd het kistje door Lodewijk XIV besteld voor de Grand Dauphin (‘Coffret de mariage commandé par Louis XIV pour le Grand Dauphin’) en gemaakt door André-Charles Boulle (‘Boulle fecit’). Bovenaan ‘Collections du Palais de San Donato’: de beroemde collectie van prins Demidoff in Florence die in 1880 werd geveild. Uitgegeven door L’Art, gedrukt bij Ch. Chardon aîné in Parijs.

A fine etching by Léon Gaucherel (1816–1886) of a luxurious marriage casket on stand in Boulle marquetry, with masks, bronze mounts and a pine-cone finial. According to the caption, the casket was commissioned by Louis XIV for the Grand Dauphin (‘Coffret de mariage commandé par Louis XIV pour le Grand Dauphin’) and made by André-Charles Boulle (‘Boulle fecit’). At the top ‘Collections du Palais de San Donato’: the famous collection of Prince Demidoff in Florence, auctioned in 1880. Published by L’Art, printed by Ch. Chardon aîné in Paris.
