English description

Etching ‘Het Stadhuis te Woerden’ – the old town hall with stepped gable

A fine, detailed etching of the old town hall of Woerden, the well-known early 16th-century building with its stepped gable, bands of brick and natural stone, leaded glass windows with shutters and the small stair tower at the side. The building now houses the Stadsmuseum Woerden. Titled ‘Het Stadhuis te Woerden’ (The Town Hall at Woerden) in pencil at lower left, signed ‘C. de Zeeuw’ in pencil at lower right. On the right you can even see the old pillory with its little lantern by the façade.
