Grote bananenblad vloermand – hoge conische mand van 81 cm
Een indrukwekkend grote vloermand van bananenblad: 81 cm hoog en 64 cm breed aan de voet, in een sculpturale, conische vorm die naar boven smal toeloopt. De mand is opgebouwd uit gedraaide strengen bananenbladvezel, laag voor laag rondgelegd en met dun draad vastgestikt. De natuurlijke kleurverschillen, van licht stro tot donker kastanjebruin, geven een mooi gestreept, levendig oppervlak. Een grote rieten mand die je net zo goed als decoratieve vloervaas of als blikvanger in een lege hoek kunt gebruiken.
Waarom wij dit kozen
Wij kozen hem om de maat en de vorm: zo groot zie je deze manden zelden, en de bijenkorfachtige silhouet maakt hem meer object dan opbergmand. Onze winkelpoes was het meteen met ons eens en kroop er direct in.
Stijl en interieur
Prachtig in een boho, ibiza, wabi-sabi of Japandi-interieur, naast een bank, in een hal of op een grote overloop. Zet er droogbloemen of lange takken in, of laat hem leeg staan als sculpturaal object. Ook mooi in een strak, wit interieur, waar de warme natuurtinten het geheel zachter maken.

Conditie: goede staat. De mand is stevig en houdt zijn vorm. Er steken hier en daar korte uiteinden van de bladstrengen uit en aan de bovenrand hangt een los eindje stikdraad (foto 6); dat hoort bij dit handwerk en is eenvoudig af te knippen. De kleurverschillen in het blad zijn natuurlijk.

Large banana leaf floor basket – tall conical basket, 81 cm
An impressively large floor basket made of banana leaf: 81 cm high and 64 cm wide at the base, in a sculptural, conical shape that tapers towards the top. The basket is built up from twisted strands of banana leaf fibre, coiled layer by layer and stitched together with fine thread. The natural colour variations, from pale straw to dark chestnut brown, create an attractive striped, lively surface. A large woven basket that works just as well as a decorative floor vase or as an eye-catcher in an empty corner.
Why we chose this piece
We chose it for its size and shape: you rarely see these baskets this large, and the beehive-like silhouette makes it more of an object than a storage basket. Our shop cat agreed immediately and crawled straight in.
Style and interior
Beautiful in a boho, Ibiza, wabi-sabi or Japandi interior, next to a sofa, in a hallway or on a large landing. Fill it with dried flowers or long branches, or leave it empty as a sculptural object. It also looks lovely in a clean, white interior, where the warm natural tones soften the whole.

Condition: good condition. The basket is sturdy and holds its shape. Here and there short ends of the leaf strands stick out, and a loose end of stitching thread hangs at the top rim (photo 6); this is part of the handwork and can easily be trimmed. The colour variations in the leaf are natural.
